How elegant Blackout Curtains

Let’s jump directly into the content.

Step – 1: Fabric Selection

The first step is the selection of the fabric of the printed and blackout curtains. If you want to have an elegant and lavish room you should go with a woven and heavy curtain fabric. This type of fabric will impart great elegance in your room.
For blackout lining, you can select a light and low weight blackout lining fabric. When both of these fabrics combine together they will sum up their weight and class as well.

Step – 2: Measure the Fabric

Let’s measure the fabric of the curtain with respect to the window. First, measure the window and leave the space of 5 inches above the curtain rod and 3 inches on both sides to make it wider. Note the measurements and measure the fabric as well.
But don’t follow this strategy for blackout curtain fabric. Blackout curtain fabric should be fixed in size as the size of the window.

Step – 3: Cut Your Curtains

If you want to have a 2-panel curtain then follow this step. Otherwise, skip this step. Take the curtain fabric and place it over one another. Align the fabrics and mark a centerline on it. Then cut it with the help of a scissor.

Step – 4: Fold, Crease and Sew

Now, you have to fold up the fabric of the curtain over the blackout curtain fabric. Make sure to align up the blackout curtain fabric. With the help of Iron make a crease over it and insert pins in it to minimize the chances of mistake.
Once you get done with the setting and creasing, start sewing your curtain fabric with the help of a sewing machine.

Step -5: Make the Curtain Rod Lop

In the last step, you have to make the curtain rod loop in your curtain. For this, measure 2 inches fabric and mark it with the help of chalk and fold it. Make sure you fold it carefully and crease it by iron. Once you complete with creasing, sew it by sewing machine.

Congratulations, your blackout curtain is ready to hang on the window. This is how I sew blackout curtains in my home. These own made curtains help you in making your room personalized and customized without compromising on elegance.
